COMMUNITY AT M-FIRM

M-FIRM was formed to cater for the needs for the homeless orphans. The M-FIRM work is implemented through a functional committee. The committee identifies the very needy orphans after which they are absorbed into the program. The program runs for orphans who live in Nakuru and its environs. The orphans are taken care of by provision of food, clothing and basic education. The challenge is that the needs are so many including medical care which is very necessary to the sick ones. In addition to that, sick orphans drop out of school or suffer denial syndrome. The communities sometimes provide food and free labor for example cooking. The donation from the community and us is not enough to meet all the needs. The community has recognized what M-FIRM is doing and has seen the positive effects of its work.  If M-FIRM is well supported it has great potential of reaching more orphans beyond Nakuru and its environs.

ORPHANS LIFE CHANGE

Through M-FIRM work the orphans have become attained the following attributes as follows,

1. The orphans have become healthier than they were before absorbed into the program

2. Nutritional diseases have gone down among the orphans

3. Spread of HIV and AIDS has reduced in the community

4. Respiratory disease have reduced among the orphan due to prompt treatment and clothing

5. The orphans have  acquired sense of belonging, through identifying  themselves with the M-FIRM

6. The orphans have been empowered through education and in the long ran their social status have improved as education is a social equalizer.

7. The orphans become self-reliant and they become helping agents as through education they get good employment

A good example is Joshua. Joshua is an orphan who plays keyboard in a church and paid every Sunday.  He has become responsible. He has also become socially acceptable. M-FIRM has played a role in his upbringing through provision of food, clothing. He is among those to be considered for education assistance when help come along.

Shelmis needs education support. She passed her national exams under M-FIRM program. She is a good example.

I hereby send pictures for you to see for each case and for the feeding program

Challenges to the orphans

1.    Girls risks being abused, raped and harassed

2.    Boys do need passage of rite which should require a paid up medical personnel

3.    Orphans suffer HIV and AIDS if they were born from infected parents who died. This means they require medication, hence medical care

4.    Suffer from hunger, nakedness and fail to go toschool if no proper mechanism in place, hence the need for M-FIRM existence

5.    Homelessness

6.    Lack of enough food, clothing, school uniforms, school fees for all them

7.    Early pregnancy among the girls orphans

8.    Drug and substance abuse

9.    Orphans are  radicalized and may end up becoming criminals

10. They enter into vices such as prostitution
