Guest Blog: Support Orphaned Children Part 1
Feb 29, 2020
I am Pastor Andrew Nguri from Kenya, Africa. I was born in a very poor family and got my upbringing in a very devastating manner and the community helped me. From my early age I developed passion to help the hungry, homeless and at least meet with their basic needs such as clothing, medicine, shoes, and food and education. I made my decision in my heart that when I grow up I will truly help in my own way and ability all the needy.

In 1988 I was employed as a young man in the ministry of health having studied Public health at a certificate level. It was during that time I discovered that there were homeless orphans who lived in the streets due to deaths of their parents.. Soon I started buying fruit juices and bread for them and took them to a quiet place and fed them on that food. I soon learnt that majority of them had no clothing. I chipped in my small way in that need. That needy group started becoming more and more bigger until when I decided to only deal with a few of them whom I could afford helping.
In 1995 I got married to Jane and we joined hands together in this calling. My wife would cook food for them. She decided to grow some crops such as potatoes, beans and corn and onions to sustain that program. That only worked for rainy season. The challenge was water during the dry seasons and secondly lack of enough land. She was doing so on a leased small piece of land.

In 2005 September, I started -Mercy Faith Restoration Initiative Ministry. It was registered by the Government of Kenya and I became its director.
